Time flies when you have twins!

So much has gone by in the last 2 months, I kept meaning to update and just couldn't find the time! The trip to Kansas for my cousin's wedding went better than I expected. The flight there was set up to be pretty tragic but ended up being a piece of cake! Getting through security was an adventure as we had me, Jon, two babies, two baby carriers, two car seats, two diaper bags, and two personal items, it was as if TSA had never seen formula nor did they know what to do with a car seat that didn't fit through the scanner. We loaded onto the plane only to discover seats had been rearranged due to another mom with a child in addition to another set of twins on the plane. Lisa and Ryan actually got to sit with me and Jon due to all the seat rearrangements so it actually worked in our favor! There were probably 10-15 lap children on this flight so the plane starts reversing and all the parents start getting bottles ready, rocking babies to sleep, etc. Our twins had just started eating and the pilot says over the intercom there is something off with the engine and he wants to get it checked out. Ten minutes later he states we have to switch plans, I was less than thrilled. After an hour wait, we board a new plane and I'm expecting it to be awful as both babies are awake and have already eaten. Both fell asleep before we took off and didn't wake up until the flight was almost over. Baby boy was awake for the landing and didn't mind at all, just laughed and giggled with me and Aunt Lisa. The flight home was a little more messy as it was around bedtime and baby boy was fussy almost the entire flight. Luckily we had my parents and my sister and her husband on the way home! We definitely would not have made it to Kansas and home without all my family helping us out!

We have started the adventure of baby foods, spoons, and high chairs! Carrots went over really well with baby girl but baby boy didn't want to have much to do with them. Since then we've actually had quite a bit of luck as baby girl will eat anything so far and baby boy just doesn't like carrots. We got really cute pictures of their first bites - it's a shame we can't share them. Baby girl is adorable when she eats, in between each spoonful she sticks her thumb in her mouth. When she is ready for another bite, she removes her thumb and opens her mouth very wide, takes the spoonful, then sucks her thumb again!

Ninety percent of the time being a parent is awesome, however we recently experienced that other 10% of parenting. While on vacation in San Diego (without the babies due to CPS visits), baby boy got admitted to the hospital. Only 3 days into our 6 day vacation, we made the decision to drive home and be with him. He was having breathing issues which was making it difficult for him to eat and caused him to become mildly dehydrated. We got into town around 11pm and I dropped Jon off at home to take care of baby girl. I drove to the hospital to relieve my mom and to be with baby boy. He looked so small and helpless in that very large jail like hospital crib. I spent the night with him and got less than 4 hours of sleep as he was very fussy and having problems sleeping. During the day he made drastic improvements and the doctor decided we could be discharged as long as we continued breathing treatments at home. He is doing much better today and will most likely be returning to daycare tomorrow.
